Internship Background

CoStar Group is innovating the real estate industry by creating a state-of-the-art collaborative marketplace with Homes.com to assist millions of people in finding their dream home. The Homes.com team, under CoStar Group, is undergoing a comprehensive redesign and relaunch of their platform on web and mobile applications with the goal of revolutionizing the home-buying experience. I was fortunate to join the Homes.com team as a UX/UI Design Intern during the redesign process. I had the opportunity to work on a business model case study which included various projects and collaborate with project managers, directors, interns, and researchers to improve the user experience and optimize the platform's efficiency.

My Impact

1.
Designed solutions that seamlessly integrated across teams, resulting in a cohesive and unified product experience.

Shipped full end-to-end flow within a short timeframe, collaborating with cross-functional team across all stages, from research, design, to execution.
3.
Constructed a case study and proposed an initiative for enhanced homes recommendation
4.
Standardized both mobile and desktop Figma files to be compliant with the new design system

Learnings

1.
Sharing low-fidelity explorations and visual references helps in communicating with cross-functional partners, such as engineers, product managers, and UX researchers, about the feasibility and timeline of initial ideas.

Project Overview:

" How might we craft a magical product that encourages patients with anxiety to visit dentist in self-initiated and enjoyable way?! "
WiDental is a personalized dental care app designed to help patients with dental anxiety through 3D video. Backed by rich research from actual stakeholders and various frameworks, WiDental aims to reduce anxiety through educational guided imagery that will inform patients about their dental care. WiDental's long-term goal is to sufficiently ease the anxiety of patients with a dental phobia for them to begin regularly scheduling preventive care appointments.

Introduction

..For those of you who frequently visit a dentist without any issue, you would find this project fun. But you would be quite surprised if you see the high rate of many people who are struggling to visit a dentist due to dental anxiety. An estimated 9% to 15% of Americans avoid seeing the dentist altogether because of dental anxiety or fear. That's about 30 to 40 million people! Regardless of age and gender, most people have had a traumatic experience during past dental treatment, which results in an avoidance of dentist visitations due to underlying psychological pressure. Also In most cases, avoiding seeing the dentist and having teeth cleaned periodically will eventually make any latent issues worse. For example, a simple filling could become a root canal, a root canal could become an extraction, and this could lead to implant surgery. What would I do for them as a UX designer?
